“Captain, I know you have no reason to listen to a guy
wearing a Led Zeppelin T-shirt, cargo shorts and flip flops, but I’d steer
clear of those icebergs if I were you.”
_______
I wrote this for the Week
86 Trifextra Writing Challenge where we are to write a 33-word time travel
story.
Your comments are
appreciated.
SWEET! of course, funny and insightful, witty and WISE. All the good things about you are wrapped in 33 words.
ReplyDeleteGood on you, my friend. :)
Thank you Kir. :) I appreciate all thos kind words.
Deletejust as an aside, aren't you freezing standing on that deck??? *wink*
ReplyDeleteYeah, but since this is MY time travel piece, I imagined that I landed on the bridge, which would have been enclosed on the Titanic. Anyway, they probably would have thrown me overboard for my impudent appearance and lack of respect.
DeleteThis gave me a chuckle. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul.
DeleteIronic that Zeppelin went down with the Titanic! Nice
ReplyDeleteI know, it was horrible when the Hindenberg crashed into the Titanic. Thanks for reminding me.
DeleteHehehe...t-shirt and flip-flops cracked me up. Too bad there wasn't someone from the future to warn them that even unsinkable ships sink :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Janna. Once I got that image in my head, I had to write it down. :)
DeleteThis is great!! The shirt sounds awesome to me! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Donetta. I had that t-shirt but I don't know where it is now.
DeleteChuckle chuckle. Humour and humility in averting that tragic day. Nice write and thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tri.
DeleteHahaha All I can see is a guy in that get-up standing next to a pipe-smoking, uniformed ship's captain. lol Very funny, lumdog!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kymm. Yeah, I'm sure the Captain would scoff at the while notion that this freak would have anything useful to say.
DeleteThanks Ted. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the touch of humor.
ReplyDeleteThanks Draug.
DeleteLove the voice of this. Imagining the captain's reaction when you popped in cracks me up. Very clever. This is sheer awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteThank you for those kind words Ivy! :)
DeleteLOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. :)
DeleteHilarious! Particularly the flip-flops. Did you catch a glimpse of Kate Winslet?
ReplyDeleteThanks Steph! I think Kate was in the back seat of that car at that moment. I beamed out of there pretty quick when I realized the Capt. wasn't listening.
DeletePoof, you would be a sight.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann. :)
DeleteFantastic. But don't wear flip flops when travelling (as I keep telling my kids).
ReplyDelete(RogRites)
Thanks Rog. I never wear flip flops when traveling by traditional modes. This time travel wasn't planned, however.
DeleteNice. This made me smile. No need for the title even to set the time. You've done a great job with one sentence.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I agree about the title but included it at the request of the editors.
DeletePerfect! Just what I would have done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tina. I enjoyed yours as well. :)
DeleteSound advice from a seemingly "unsound" source-hope the captain listened:-)Great take Lumdog
ReplyDeleteThanks Atreyee. :)
DeleteThat was a good spot to be. My son is obsessed with Titanic. He buys all books & models and keeps going over and over it. I am sure he would be standing right next to u
ReplyDeleteThanks Sini. It's easy to get obsessed since this tragedy seemed so preventable.
DeleteBrilliant... hope there was a return ticket in case the captain wouldn't listen.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bjorn. I zapped myself back ASAP.
DeleteNo kidding!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the captain would have listened.

I can't imagine he would have. Thanks Alicia.
Deletelum, if I'd have been able to pin down a moment from the past to go back to-this would have been at the top of my list! Now, I just have to decide what I'd wear...;) Loved this!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Valerie. :)
DeleteI think the led zeppelin tshirt would make me listen more! Smart man!
ReplyDeleteYep. Can't go wrong with Zeppelin. :) Thanks Bo.
DeleteI'd listen to a dude like you, dressed like that. Who knows his music! That is the perfect time and place to be. Always love your humor, lum!
ReplyDeleteGina, thanks as always, for your kind words.
DeleteHa! Love this, Lumdog! Great choice of date. Nice outfit too. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne.
DeleteI would have loved to see that scene in the movie! Rock on!
ReplyDeletethis brought me an early morning chuckle. Though, maybe that's inappropriate...
ReplyDeleteNice job!
