Scaredy Cat

I read the warning on the quit smoking medication:

SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE SUICIDAL AND HOMICIDAL IDEATION, DEPRESSION, AGITATION, ANXIETY, HOSTILITY, ARACHNOPHOBIA, COULROPHOBIA AND CRAVING FOR CIGARETTES

Why am I a scaredy cat?

_______

I wrote this for the Week 90 Trifextra Writing prompt where we are to write exactly 33 words about what scares us or our character.

Your comments are appreciated.

  1. HI you.
Oh this was just right...written with just enough tongue in cheek fun.

Hey , there are rational reasons to be hesitant. Am I right?
(just don't take a drag on the filter while you decide)

  2. Never read the side effects if you're a hypochondriac. It's a recipe for disaster!

  4. Those side effect pamphlets are worse than the disease sometimes. Good take on the prompt!

  5. Oh... do they really want to stop you? I wonder...
    Loved it.

  6. lol. Being a smoker, this made me smile a bit. :) I never read the warning labels or side effects. If I did, I'm almost sure I'd build a plastic bubble to walk around in, like a hamster, almost.

  8. Don't worry about the side effects...they have different drugs to take care of them.
(In teeny, tiny print: the side effects from those other drugs will require more medications to treat...and so on.)

Living with my parents during their bouts of quitting smoking (they never quit for long), I can say that depression, hostility, agitation and cigarette cravings happen even without the meds :)

Case in point: when the cure is worse than the disease.
    Great one, lumdog!

  16. lum, this is seriously funny-and seriously true! It seems like a lot of the time the side effects put a person in worse shape than the original condition-and the fear of those side effects can be overwhelming! And as an ex smoker I know how calming those Marlboros can be;)

  17. You always find the humor, lumdog! Or maybe it's just my kind...no! And a case in point why I never read the pages and pages of side effects...

Didn't know you were a smoker (are you?). Quit! We aren't getting any younger. The years count!

  19. Lord! Who would ever want to try that stuff, after reading all of that?

  20. I love this...not only the originality and comedy....but for me, I have severe drug allergies (antibiotics -all but two classes- Anti-inflammatory meds-Anti-depressants) to the point that one pill put me in a 3 month coma....so you are dead on...something to be feared ..or at least taken with caution. Excellent imaginative use of the prompt.

  24. Ha! Although I still think smoking is worse than all of those. Thanks for linking up! Be sure to come back and vote for your favorites.

  25. And cravings for cigarettes! LOL! Well I think all those things are caused just from not having cigarettes when you're trying to quit. It's a scary thing alright!

  26. Hehehehe! As I recall, you could have plunked the word "depression" in there at least (3) more times!

  27. LOL! As a former smoker that made me giggle for sure!! :)
